Daddy took us out for Pizza. We went to Uno's. It was our first time at the restaurant and ...the only customers!!!!! The kids got to make their own pizza's and they loved it!!!!

September 7, 2008-HOME!!!!

we met the Mermaid for the first time in the conference room of the Hebei Century Hotel. It seems like yesterday and so long ago too! She sure has changed since that first meeting....

We found the Moon!!!!

The moon was out last night under all those Thunderstorms! We were on our way to school this morning and we stopped to gaze.....enjoy!

Moon Festival

Today is the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Families in China gather under the moon and eat moon cakes with lanterns and do dragon dances. Well, our moon festival has been washed out! As the sun began to set, a nasty thunderstorm with lightening set in. We couldn't even see the moon!!!!! So, we got out our Mini-Moon PIES ...because I couldn't find moon cakes in town and we sat on the patio and ate them in the rain. Maybe in the morning before we leave for school...we'll catch a glimpse of the big full moon!!!

We are not sure when The Mermaid had her last BUZZ cut...Jen (our family hairstylist) says it was probably a year ago. However, since she has been home with us, it has grown so much! It has been hanging in her eyes and looking pretty stringy on the ends. So our family Hair Guru, Jen... really... She does my hair, Daddy's hair, Aunt Staci's hair and NOW...The Mermaid's hair trimmed her hair today. She was very excited and did such a great job sitting still for Jen. She was not happy about getting her hair blown out....we had to use the hair dryer on ourselves to show her it wouldn't hurt!!!! She looks very cute...you can really see her eyes!

The Mermaid had to wear red to school today. They are working on learning their colors. Well, The Pirate decided to join in the fun for the day. Thank you Aunt Kerri for our new shirts from Universal Studios...they just need blue hair!

Well..... I had to post this picture. She had worn her hair to school today just like the picture above. I took it out for bath time. Well, she wouldn't stop laughing and she laughed so hard...she fell on her butt !!!!

She cracks herself up!!!!! It is pretty funny to watch sometimes.....

The Pirate has NEWS!!!!!

You can tell he is very excited. All is going well. Long Labor Day weekend watching Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulfcoast, watching Hurricane Hannah and Tropical Storm Ike and wondering where they are going to go. We had dinner at the Princess and Superstar's house and the Mermaid is making more conversation everyday. She was mad last night because The Pirate had juice and she didn't. She looked at me and pointed at him and said, " Ge Ge has juicy! " we hear more and more each day...her mandarin is almost gone now. It makes me sad....it is a part of her...she has lost a lot in her short little life. So, for now, we celebrate and "high-five" every new word and phrase and look forward to the day she can start tattling on her big brother!!!!! Look out Pirate.......
