Long time...No blog about the Mermaid.

We have been so busy with things. I just haven't had time to post. The Mermaid had her 3rd surgery in March on her hand. (once in China, two times here) It went very well. She is a trooper! The doctor says we will look at it when she is a teenager...time for healing and growing. This is the first time in her life that she has had full access to all her fingers and she is learning to use that hand now that she has complete motion in it. She finished Head Start and over the summer attended VPK to get ready for Kindergarten. She has lost her ESOL status...because her English is "too good". However, she has gaps in her language. So, we are concentrating on filling those gaps this upcoming school year. Kindergarten started in August. She is academically doing very well. Her behavior...well? Talks too much, can't keep her hands to herself, etc. We're working on it!

It is amazing how far she has come in 2 years. She loves her Na Na and Gra Gra so much. She loves to play on her "play phone" and has conversations with them. Thinks her Pop Pop is very funny. She is very attached her to her Aunt Staci, Uncle Cris and Uncle William. She is constantly asking questions about when they were little or when they were in school...she is very curious about ALL of them.

She LOVES tacos, noodles, popsicles, fruit and veggies. Eats like there is no tomorrow. She has gained 15 pounds and grew 6 inches since her adoption. She is all legs... she will be tall as an adult. And skinny, too! She is very silly and has no common sense. She calls herself the "little Chinese girl" and says sometimes she just can't stop talking! We just shake our heads and shrug..... The best part is that she makes us laugh!

Hopefully, I will be better about posting again. Because, life would not be the same without the Little Chinese Girl....

It's been since March that I posted. WOW! It's been along time. I guess I am going to have to update everyone will ALL the things we have been doing.

Today was Read Across America Day. Since we are a teaching family, it is an important day to emphasize with The Pirate and The Mermaid. We dressed for the occasion by wearing our Thing 1 and 2 shirts (thanks Aunt Kerri!) and our Cat and The Hat "hats". Both kids had green eggs and ham for breakfast...YUCK!!! How I LOVE eggs! Several readers came to read to their classes including Uncle Bryon!

My class had 4 readers and we went on a field trip to a Kindergarten class to bake up some Cat and The Hat pizza. (thanks Kerri!) The kids loved it and it smelled soooo YUMMY and tasted soooo GOOD!

It was a fun day and I am very tired......zzzzzzzz

2010 CCNL Rookie Braves

Today was opening day at the field. It was cold and then it rained! The Pirate was introduced and took the Little League pledge. We then went and bought the Pirate this really "hard" piece of equipment...he is a little embarrassed! But you got to protect them....

They had a mini game at 11 and scored more runs than the other team. YEAH! Aunt Staci even stopped by to visit.

Busy week...

It has been a very busy week. We had training , went to Disney World and school. The pirate had practice this morning. It turned into a practice game. He was second up and wacked the ball to the second baseman and just STOOD THERE! I think he was in shock!!! He got thrown out...but Mommy was proud anyway. If it had been a real game...it was 4-2 Braves in the end. Not too shabby...

We couldn't believe it this morning....there it sits. We don't know if it is a boy or girl. We don't kow if it will stay awhile...we have had alot of rain lately. It might just be hangin' out...maybe we could charge rent?

The pirate has moved up to the Rookie league (pitching machine). He is playing on the Braves this year and he had his first practice today. Unfortunately, he was not at his best. He puked this morning before going!!!! However, he was a trooper and made it all the way thru the practice. I think his coach was impressed!

We were officially logged into China today in 2007. It was three years ago and would you believe, we would still be waiting! So many babies and children waiting for forever families...

Guess who turned 5??????

The Mermaid turned 5 today. She celebrated by taking cupcakes to school to share with friends and she wanted to go to her favorite restaurant...Chick-fil-a!!!! So here she is, all 5 years old and eating her nuggets... or is that a fry????
